How to deal With Being Nervous

Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have.

-Phillipians 4:6

Two days ago, when I came back to my dorm room, there was a slip of paper outside my door with this piece of scripture on it. As a college student, it is very easy to worry due to the challenges college present. It is April, which means finals assignments are due and finals exams are around the corner. Just yesterday, I had a lab final for human biology and seeing this quote two days ago was what I needed to be less worried about that final.

This slip of paper noted that the best way to deal with your worries is to turn them into prayers. That is what this piece of scripture says. Sometimes I wish college was a bit easier and that there was less stress. But I know how to handle to stresses of college. This blog is one way to deal with it and I am discovering that even praying works, which is what I did after finding this quote.

Don’t let your worries control your life. True, everyone gets nervous at times, but if you feel nervous, just pray and ask for guidance from God. Worries doesn’t help us throughout our days. It can be easy to actually over worry, which makes it harder to get things done. Life isn’t supposed to be easy and will always be full of challenges.

The Lord’s Steadfast Love

They will have no fear of bad news;  their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord

-Psalms 112:7

This is quite a wonderful piece of scripture. It is important to trust in Lord. When bad times strike, keep being loyal to the Lord. He will help you get through and accomplish so much. It is hard to not have fear when it comes to bad news. As a college student, I trust in the Lord, which helps me pull through. True, we live in a life of fear, but it is important to live according to the example that the Lord set for us. It is important to love others. The Lord will guide us in the right direction. There is hope even when a lot of fear is going on this world.

Trusting in the Lord

“God is within her, she will not fall. God will help her at break of day”

-Psalms 46:5

This quote really shows how much God is part of our lives. It shows that God will not give up. He will help us when we are broken and will help us when we are not. He lives inside of us through the Holy Spirit. Throughout college, I have found ways to help strengthen my spirituality. Every week, I attend our student-led worship service and singing those songs really enter and fill me up with the Holy Spirit. By attending weekly, I am able to develop my strong spirit and you can feel the energy from all the students singing. Sometimes I have to be reminded that God will always be a part of my life and one place I find that is through the sunsets and sunrises that I see. When there is a test, I look up to God and trust Him that I will get through them.

God is highly important to me. He  teaches us the importance of love, compassion, forgiveness, and kindness. He helps show us the light in the midst of darkness. He helps guide us so that our dreams will come true. He guides us in the midst of trouble and when we are heading in the right direction. Everyone has God-given gifts and we must use them to our advantage. We might feel broken at times, but God will always look over us.

Plans of the Lord

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”

-Jeremiah 29:11-13

Sometimes things in life don’t make sense. But God has a plan for each of us. Sometimes it is hard to know what parts of our life are part of His plan and what parts are not. But listen to God. He has a plan for each of us and our calling is why we are on this earth. I discovered my calling in high school and never once realized that my calling was meant to be a job. In high, through a special dinner exercise, I realized the vast majority of the world was living in poverty and I just knew I had to do something. In Fall of 2015, I learned to love Sociology and that as when I realized that God actually wanted me to work in Nonprofit and yes that sounds a bit risky, but if thats where God wants me to be, I will work there.

Than the semester after that, I found another side to my calling. God somehow found a way to blend my two biggest passions into one Nonprofit idea. I plan to open up a theatre where the homeless can be involved. My true passion is helping the homeless and my other passion is musicals. I loved musicals growing up and Wicked sparked my love for musicals and was the show where I started to understand the emotional side of musicals. Than Les Mis becomes an important part of my life and I became obsessed with it and that turned me into a musical fanatic. So this idea combines my passion for theatre and my passion for helping the homeless.

So what I am basically saying is that God has a plan for each of us. I know when darkness strikes, it makes no sense at all. But God knows what He is doing. He wants to strengthen us and lead us to the light. He loves all of us conditionally and knows the importance of compassion, love, kindness, and forgiveness. It is important to know what your God-given gifts are. One of mine is my strong spirit and that is one thing that makes me unique. He wants to give us hope even if society is broken. He keeps me going through my day and I continue to strengthen my spirituality.

Hope for Humanity

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerers through him who loved us

-Romans 8: 35, 37

This just shows that we can never be separated from the love of Christ! It shows that we will always be loved by Christ. Even when humanity is messed up or in times of hardship or darkness, we still can never be separated from Christ’s love for us. It shows that Christ is ultimately in control and that Satan is less powerful. Love is stronger than hate and is the best way to save humanity. Even in times of danger, we are still a part of Christ’s love. Even if anyone tries to be separated from this love, the love will still exist. Just knowing that we can never be separated from Christ’s love shows that there is still hope left int he world. It shows that humanity isn’t completely destroyed. We need to allow Christ in our life because without him, life wouldn’t be the same.

God’s Love for Humanity

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins

-1 John:10

This can be a hard piece of scripture to interpret. But it makes sense if you actually think about. God sent his only Son to save us from our sins. Through that sacrifice, we live in Christ and he saves us from our sins. God loves us so deeply, which is so hard to describe. His son, Jesus Christ, is quite important because we look up to Christ. Without Christ, it would feel like a heavy burden will always be placed on us. Love is the best way to protect us from the wrongdoings we have done. Worship Christ and remember the sacrifice he made for us.

The Refuge and Strength of God

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will fall; God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms falls; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.

He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”.

The Lord Almighty is with you; the city of Jacob is our fortress.

-Psalm 46

This psalm shows that God is our savior. He brings light to the world. He is our creator and fortress. When times are in trouble, look to the Lord. He will never give up and he has plans for everyone. Do not fear him at all. There may be chaos and trouble on this earth. But God remains living within us through the Holy Spirit. He will raise us when he fall. He has made us in the image of him. He dwells inside of us and us the Holy Sprit as a guide. It might seem like God is causing chaos, disorder, and brokenness of society. But he is still good and full of love, compassion and forgiveness. It is sin that causes brokenness of society. When we are in need of help, look to the Lord.
