Songs Connected to Friendship

As a continuation of yesterday’s post, I decided to make a list of musical theatre songs that are connected to friendship. Friendship is one of the types of love that seems to be overlooked. Even some of the friendships are underrated, in my opinion. Some of them may not seem like they are related to friendship, but in my eyes they are.

  1. High Adventure
  2. Omar, Babkak, Aladdin, Kassim
  3. What is This Feeling
  4. Popular
  5. One Short Day
  6. For Good
  7. Red and Black
  8. Do You Hear the People Sing
  9. Drink With Me
  10. A Little Fall of Rain
  11. Santa Fe (Prologue)
  12. Carrying the Banner
  13. The World Will Know
  14. Seize the Day
  15. King of New York
  16. Once and For All
  17. La Vie Boheme
  18. Goodbye Love
  19. Finale B

The difference between Aladdin’s friends in the movie and stage show

(SPOILERS): From the Aladdin movie, there is Abu, Aladdin’s monkey. However, in the stage show, Abu is missing. So does Aladdin have any friends in the stage show? Yes, in the stage show, there is Omar, Babkak, and Kassim. There are people who do wish Abu was not kicked out, but for me, I love Omar, Babkak, and Kassim. I think they are a wonderful substitute. Why exactly?

I have only been around those three friends for about a week. It creates these two wonderful songs- “High Adventure” and “Omar, Babkak, Aladdin, Kassim”. In some ways, I believe it develops Aladdin a bit further. With the stage show, those three friends create these incredible sword fights. I love Abu in the movie, but for the stage show= Omar, Babak, and Kassim work better. There are more energetic songs because of those three characters.

I still am quite new to Omar, Babkak, and Kassim- after all, I only met them on 9/11 when I saw the stage show. I loved seeing them-they are three of my favorite characters in musical theatre. In Aladdin (as in the stage show), the characters I do love are Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim.
