“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body and death of Jesus, so that they life of Jesus may also be visible in our bodies. For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you”- 2 Corinthians 5:7-12
This passage is referring to the vulnerability of humans. The clay jar are humans because clay jars can easily be broken, scattered, and shattered when dropped and the best way to handle them is carefully. Humans are frail and can easily be hurt and filled with pain. But in our weakness, God makes us strong because he is there with us. God makes us strong in our weakness because he knows that it is one of the only ways to communicate with us. We always be filled be struggling, but we feel life in you. Even though life is difficult, trust in the Lord with all your heart and soul. We feel God’s power when we are down and we must never give up on him because we are made in his image. It is hard to think of humans as frail, but we are. We can still be strong in different areas, but we still can be hurt even thought no one wants to feel pain. It is through suffering and struggles where humans tend to come together the most.
“Because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raises us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into his presence. Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God”- 2 Corinthians 5: 14-15
To conclude, this particular passages connects to what previously was said. It says that everything we do is for the glory of God. God has a plan for each of us and everyone is one this world for a reason. We know that we eventually will join Jesus in heaven eventually, but first we need to serve our purpose on Earth first. Everyday we are filled with God’s spirit in different ways. For me, whenever I am at the Gathering, I am feeling God’s spirit at such an emotional and intimate level. That effect happens mainly through the songs and uplifts and inspires me and tells me that God will help be thrive at college. I am filled with God’s spirit by observing the beautiful sunsets and through the wonderful community here. I also feel God’s spirit whenever I volunteer with the school, which mainly happens through my club.
Advice: Try to find a place to feel God’s spirit everyday. When you are filled with God’s spirit, your life will be filled with so much meaning. Being with God through his spirit helps us thrive no matter how easy or tough the situation is in your life.
